Uncle Tetsu's Japanese Cheesecake, Hillcrest Mall

This is hands down my favorite Japanese cheesecake shop — no question about it. The taste is always spot on: light, fluffy, perfectly balanced. No matter how many times I buy it, it’s just as good every single time. That soft, airy texture? Never disappoints. The price is super reasonable, which makes it even better. Whether I’m bringing it to share with coworkers, gifting it to someone, or just enjoying it myself — it’s always a hit. Honestly, it’s one of those things I just can’t walk past without picking up. For this quality and flavor at this price point, it’s completely unbeatable. Forever my No.1 Japanese cheesecake — absolutely flawless.

LIMITED MENU ITEMS. Weekly menu is posted for your convenience. Plan ahead. Uncle Tetsu is located in Hillcrest Mall near the Food Court. They used to be located elsewhere in that same mall. The closest mall entrance to them is the TD Bank / Sports Chek doors. They sell the standard hot selling items, but if you are looking for a specific flavoured product, please check their weekly menu ahead of time to avoid disappointment. They take cash, debit and credit cards. It’s a walk up window without any washroom facilities. Use the mall instead. No issues with parking either. Chocolate Cheesecake and Chocolate Cheese Tart are available Tuesdays and Thursdays. Matcha Cheesecake and Matcha Cheese Tart are available Mondays and Wednesdays. Original Cheesecake and Original Cheese Tart are available daily and so is Ube Purple Cheesecake.

I love the freshness of the cheesecakes. I went on Saturday, August 16th, and bought an Angel's Hat. I felt lucky because I hadn’t been able to find one in a while, although they didn’t have the cheesecake flavor of the month. Unfortunately, they don’t always have the full variety of products available. They usually offer special flavors during the week, but weekends are when I have the time to go. Also, they’ve removed the most visible menu from the store, so now we have to wait for it to appear on the TV screen again. The store is always clean, and the woman who works on Fridays and weekends is very kind and understanding with my children. I’m very grateful to them for always welcoming us with a smile.

Uncle Tetsu has brought on another flavor...COFFEE! There's a good balance between the coffee and cheesecake notes. The coffee notes are not too strong and/or bitter, having an overall minimal sweetness level. As always, I love how light and fluffy the cake texture. I bought a Japanese style cheese cake, original favor from Uncle Tetsu for my friend’s birthday. This is my first time buying a Japanese style cheese cake in Toronto. Luckily there is no line up at the store when I arrive and I finish my purchase very fast. Yes the store accepts debit or credit but no cash, that is totally fine for me. The cheese cake is $14 which is not expensive compared to those at supermarket or bakery shop. Uncle Tetsu cheese cake has 3 favours: original, matcha and chocolate. The cake is very soft yet bouncy, some moisture in the middle layer, Japanese style cheese cake is usually much lighter compares to the western style, yet this one I can still taste the cheesy. We cannot finish the whole cake on the same day and surprisingly we find that the cake tastes even better after 2 days, haha. Delicious, affordable and will definitely buy again.

I went few days ago it was closed with sign saying will be back in 30min. but no one show up even after 30min. I went back to days later which was yesterday and got chocolate cheese cake. I taste more chocolate than cheese but still good I think. I read alot of hygiene problems on the review I hope they keep it clean and offer fresh cakes so people can enjoy for long term.
